POSITION SUMMARY 

United We Dream (UWD) is looking for a highly motivated, results minded, and collaborative Senior Development Manager who is dedicated to our mission. In this role, you will work closely with the Development Director and team to drive fundraising efforts and support the organization’s continued financial sustainability.

The Senior Development Manager will support the Development Director and team with fundraising efforts for UWD by driving and implementing fundraising strategy for all streams of giving and long-term plan to diversify sources of UWDN/A revenue, managing relationships with additional focus on stewardship of assigned donors for successful cultivation, as well as researching and identifying new funding opportunities.  Project work is highly collaborative both within the organization, across departments, as well as with other partners.

This is a full-time remote position and reports to the Development Director while supervising development staff and consultants. Travel requirements to meet with funders/ donors and attend UWD events with the amount of travel varying based on need.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Strategy

  • Assist the Development Director in implementing the annual fundraising strategy 
  • Managing relationships with assigned donors/funders for successful cultivation.  
  • Managing strategic programming and events for funders in partnership with Development Director and/or Executive Director
  • Develop and strategize key communications to funders and collaborate with the team to produce materials
    • Identify collateral materials needed for new funder/existing funder conversations
    • Ensuring collateral materials are regularly updated on a quarterly basis
    • Prepare briefing agendas and provide supporting collateral material
    • Work with Development Director to define materials needed to effectively tell UWD’s story by collaborating with other departments
    • Maintain consistent email updates and communications to existing and potential funders on a quarterly or needed basis.
  • Assist the Development Director and/or Executive Director to coordinate and compose agendas for funder meetings and conferences
 

Department Management and Operations

  • Oversee the in-house development staff and Institutional Giving consultants directly
  • Build consensus within the Development staff to ensure UWD’s development strategy is aligned with the organizational vision and membership priorities.
  • Build future leaders: Train and mentor youth in Development in order to build a pipeline of young leaders of color in the immigrant rights movement.
  • Demonstrate embodied leadership: Prioritize taking care of your physical and emotional health as a key component of thriving in your role. Practice self-care behaviors in ways that work best for you and proactively encourage your staff to prioritize self-care as well. Project trust & confidence in your abilities and skills and recognize the achievements and abilities of others.
  • Strengthen the culture: Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inspiring organizational culture for staff to excel in. Role model and uphold UWD’s values of creating an inclusive and equitable working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Director.
 

Giving Program

  • Implement UWD’s fundraising strategy for all streams of giving and long-term plan to diversify sources of revenue
  • Support the stewardship of all donor relationships to foster successful cultivation
    • Coordinate regular communications with funders through newsletters, quarterly update emails, and other forms of communications
  • Prepare for funder briefings in collaboration with the Development Director, and other participants on a weekly basis. 
  • Coach UWD staff in preparation for funder meetings, presentations, and events
  • Work with the Development Director to identify potential prospects for fundraising
  • Work with the Development Director to develop cultivation strategies and ensure effective stewardship of prospects
 

Institutional Giving Pipeline Development

  • Manage a portfolio of institutional funders and prospects, and develop cultivation strategies for them in partnership with the Development Director. 
  • Work in partnership with development staff  and Development Director to identify new funding opportunities and prospects through proactive prospect research
  • Work in partnership with the Development Director to implement a fundraising strategy for institutional giving 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

  • At least 3 years of development experience at a $5M+ organization, including national foundation and major donor fundraising.
  • At least 3 years of staff or department management experience, with experience delivering results through other staff or consultants.
  • Deeply committed to United We Dream’s mission and an ability to balance your burning passion for justice with a good sense of humor.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track-record of setting and adjusting smart, strategic, and ambitious goals, achieving results, and particularly increasing organizational resources from year-to-year.
  • A creative approach about individual donors, ready to experiment, evaluate experiments, and build a strategy for bringing more individual donors and major donors into the organization.
  • Born to market and sell with a manager, delegator, and coach mentality.
  • Detail-oriented with a command for polished, metric-driven, beautiful, and relatable products.
  • A diligent work planner with the ability to manage and sequence multiple projects on short and long-term deadlines
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with immigrant youth/immigrant rights organizing and advocacy preferred.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. United We Dream offers a competitive salary, and comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, health insurance, retirement plans, and life insurance. 

Base pay ranges: $75,000/yr - $85,000/yr

  • Employees who have completed less than 3 years of service with United We Dream: 
    • 10 Vacation days per year
  • Employees who have completed at least 3 years of service with United We Dream: 
    • 15 Vacation days per year
  • Paid Time Off Holiday between December 24th - January 1st.
  • 12 Paid holidays

  • $120 Reimbursement included cell service/data and utilities monthly

Location: This is a full-time, remote position. We have a preference to hire in states where we already have employees working from home - AZ, DC, CT, CA, FL, IL, MO, NJ, NM, NY, OK, SC, and TX. You may be required to travel for internal team meetings, retreats, and UWD events as well as external events as required for your role.
