United We Dream (UWD) is the largest immigrant youth-led community in the country. The Opportunity
United We Dream seeks an experienced and relationship-driven Interim Major Gifts Officer to strengthen and expand donor engagement during a key organizational moment.
This position will focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individual donors and donor networks to generate $750,000-$1 Million + in new or renewed support.
The ideal candidate is a strong relationship-builder who values trust and authenticity, enjoys sharing UWD’s impact and with clarity and heart, and approaches fundraising as collaborative work rooted in shared purpose.
This is a remote temporary position for up to 24 months requiring travel for in-person donor meetings and events.
What You’ll Do
Donor Relations & Engagement
- Strengthen a core portfolio of 75–100 donors and prospects, deepening trust and connection focusing on gifts of $5,000–$100,000+.
- Secure $750,000-$1million in new or renewed gifts within the first 12 months, with clearly quarterly goals and stewardship milestones.
- Re-engaged at least 20 lapsed donors by designing personalized reconnection approaches that reflect shared values.
- Build donor partnerships plans that aligned with UWD’s long term priorities with at 3-5 multi-year commitments.
- Partner with the Executive Director to conduct a cadence of donor conversations and updates that increase renewal rates and donor satisfaction.
- Create thoughtful proposals, updates, and impact reports that clearly shows UWD’s impact and membership leadership.
Information and Learning Systems
- Maintain accurate and timely donor information in UWD’s CRM.
- Track progress towards revenue goals and share regular updates with the Senior Director of Finance and Development.
- Collaborate with the Development and Narrative teams to design donor materials and acknowledgment processes.
- Identify and connect with new donor prospects who align with UWD’s mission and values.
Events & Communications Engagement
- Support virtual and in-person donor events, briefings, and engagement opportunities.
- Help create meaningful donor experiences that highlight member leadership and community stories.
- Represent UWD and UWDA with warmth, integrity, and care.
Organizational Leadership and Strategic Alignment
- Strategic alignment: Build consensus within the membership to ensure UWD’s Development strategy is aligned with the organizational vision and membership priorities
- Support fundraising: Collaborate with Executive Director, Managing Director, Senior Finance Director, and Development team in fundraising strategy for development priorities
- Build future leaders: Train and mentor youth in Development in order to build a pipeline of young leaders of color in the immigrant rights movement
- Demonstrate embodied leadership: Prioritize taking care of your physical and emotional health as a key component of thriving in your role. Practice self-care behaviors in ways that work best for you and proactively encourage your staff to prioritize self-care as well. Project trust & confidence in your abilities and skills and recognize the achievements and abilities of others
- Strengthen the culture: Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inspiring organizational culture for staff to excel in. Role model and uphold UWD’s values of creating an inclusive and equitable working environment
Who You Are
- 3–5 years of individual or major gifts fundraising experience, including direct solicitation.
- Proven ability to cultivate and secure gifts between $5,000 and $100,000+.
- Strong interpersonal communicator and listener who builds genuine relationships.
- Organized, detailed-oriented, and proactive with excellent follow-through.
- Commitment to UWD’s values of immigrant justice, racial equity, and youth empowerment.
- Experience fundraising for social justice or advocacy organizations preferred.
- Available to travel regularly for donor meetings and events.
